Board Guidelines

Please remember that we are not responsible for the content or tone of any messages posted, nor are we responsible for the content or propriety of external links. We do not vouch for or warrant the accuracy, completeness or usefulness of any message, and are not responsible for the contents of any message other than those made by the Administration and Moderation team. That said, any message found to be deliberately offensive or in breach of the TOS of the board will be removed and any necessary action taken against it's author.

General Rules

  • Posts seen by the admin to be hateful, abusive or meant to incite argument will be removed. This includes - but is not limited to - continued harassment of any individual, personal attacks, racism, sexism, homophobia and religious intolerance. This also includes linking to sites promoting such attitudes. Action will be taken against repeat and persistent offenders. This also covers signatures, profiles and any other publicly accessible part of the forum.

  • Posts and links of an explicit sexual nature are not permitted due to the age range of users on the forum.

  • Text and Chat speak are not permitted in the forum. We expect every effort to be made to use correct spelling, grammar and punctuation. It is also expected to follow general common sense in following rules of courtesy and etiquette. We also ask that you think before posting excessive amounts of foul language on the board, though, in the interests of free speech, profanity is not expressly forbidden.

  • The various functions in the text editor are there to enhance the comprehensiveness of posts and should not be abused. Excessive use of emoticons and font effects will be deleted by a moderator and the offending user warned. This also extends to the quote function: do not quote the whole post that is directly above yours, especially if the the post contains quotes already. It is unnecessary and no one needs to see the exact same post four times in a row. The quote function is there to single out a specific point you wish to reply to, or to draw attention or reply an earlier post.

  • Please ensure that all posts are on topic and directed to all members for proper discussion, not aimed at a select few as clique-based posts will be deleted. Do not post messages that are only smilies or words such as 'Lol' on their own as these will be deleted and action will be taken against persistent offenders.
  • Please check that posts and topics are made in their appropriate forums. If you are posting links, interviews, or other material of that nature, please read the boards to ensure that it has not already been posted. Duplicate postings will be delete, and multiple offences will lead to warnings and moderated posting.

  • Spam and posts not in their correct forums will be moved or deleted at the admin's discretion. We are aware accidents and oversights are possible and that will be taken into account, however deliberate or provocative disregard of this rule can lead to warnings, suspension and/or banning.

  • Problems with specific content or posters should be brought to the admin's attention either through PM or use of the report function, rather than aired publicly on the board. It should also be noted that all reported posts are checked and context will be taken into account - any actions to be or not to be taken will be decided by the admins.

  • Respect for the privacy of other members is fundamental. Do not ask for or attempt to solicit personal information from any member of the community, whether on the forum itself or via Private Messaging or email.

  • Advertising or linking to other sites in your signature is not allowed without prior permission.

  • All attempts will be made to resolve any dispute in the best way possible, but the decision of the Moderation Team is final.

Episode Discussion

  • Any posts referring to any event that have yet to occur on screen that are made outside of the Spoiler forums must include a spoiler tag.

    This includes threads outside of the UK discussion forum that includes details from episodes yet to air in Australia unless specific warnings are present in the topic header. This includes casting and production news.

  • When starting a thread, please ensure that it is being posted in the relevant forum/subforum. If you are unsure, please ask a moderator.

  • Threads for discussion of the latest UK episodes will be posted and made open by a moderator no earlier than two hours before the episode is set to air. Any pre-episode discussion should take place in the appropriate spoiler forum. Please note this is in the UK forum only. Members are welcome to start their own episode threads in the Aus forums as or after the particular episode airs.


Copyright and Legal Concerns

  • The practice of copying episodes is illegal and any post offering or asking for copies of any product, commercially available or otherwise, will be deleted. This also covers any posts containing, soliciting or discussing unauthorised use use of copyrighted materials, including clips of the show, interviews from tb.com and pirated copies of episodes.

  • Do not discuss anything to do with studio visits, the set or unpublicised location shoots. ITV actively discourage this, chiefly as a security measure for the cast and crew and s-o.co.uk fully supports this decision.

  • Linking to full-length copyrighted music or video files is not allowed under any circumstances.

  • All works posted on this forum are copyrighted to their respective owners and may not be used without their permission. If you wish to use another members fanart, please email or PM them for permission first, and give credit if it is requested.

Use of Images and Other Media

  • Hotlinking without permission from anywhere other than dedicated hosting sites such as tinypic and photobucket is forbidden.

  • Please resize your pictures to be around the approximate size of 400x300 pixels. This is to ensure that everyone is able to view the pictures, including those who are on dial up or those that have caps on their broadband allowance.

  • Make sure all banner signatures are within the dimensions of 150 pixels high and 600 wide, and that icon signatures contain no more than FIVE icons and there should not me more than one row of images in your signature. Also that signatures contain no more than 6 lines of text - and an empty line will also count towards one line worth of text. We also ask that you don't use font size bigger than 3 in signatures.

  • There should not be more than five animated images in any one post. This does not include emoticons or signature images.

  • Video and Music clips of any format are not allowed in the body of any post. The only embedded files allowed are jpg, jpeg, gif and png. We also request that you do not link directly to pdf files.
